Let’s go over highlights from the Tesla 2023 Investor Day. It’s 169 slides and I suggest taking a flick through the entire thing to be aware what the most game changing company in the world is doing. Note this presentation did not go into their robotics business.

I don’t own any Tesla shares, and I hope it goes back to $100, because not owning it makes me uncomfortable.

The Master Plan

Tesla lays out the scale of the investments necessary for a zero carbon world. If the world remains organised and committed enough to collectively do this, then the numbers are huge.

When you look at the relative changes from where we are today the size of the investment in EV’s ($7 trillion) makes you want to be find good plays on that sector coming and going. Good valuation entry points are still essential. Solar can still be massive. Especially in Africa.

The Big Energy companies like (BP, Total, ENI, Shell, etc) are all shifting more of their capex into renewables. Their view is they want to remain the energy companies of the future too.

The little coloured dots in the slide below are how much land is required for solar and wind installations. Note the box in the right hand corner. 12.5% of the Earth is devoted to feeding us (Agriculture). I thought it would be more, but I guess if you include the oceans it isn’t such a high %. And the point Tesla makes is dedicating less than 1% to solar and wind is not such a big deal.
